HOW EVICTIONOS USES AI

AI and Legal Information Notice

Effective date: August 2, 2026

EvictionOS uses AI to make Michigan housing information and your own documents easier to understand and act on. The goal is useful help now—with clear sources, review controls and honest limits.

You are interacting with AI

AI helps power free-form chat, document extraction, plain-language explanations and case-aware planning. AI responses are generated by a computer system, not written or approved in real time by an attorney, court employee or government official.

What AI may do

  • Answer questions in your own words using approved Michigan sources.
  • Identify visible facts in a paper or photograph for your review.
  • Organize confirmed facts into a timeline and action plan.
  • Calculate an ordinary countdown to a date you entered or confirmed.
  • Suggest preparation steps, questions to ask and verified resources.
  • Use facts in your current plan so you do not have to repeat yourself.

Where human judgment remains necessary

AI can be wrong. It cannot guarantee that a document is valid, predict a judge’s decision, choose a legal defense, decide whether you should accept an agreement, act as your lawyer or independently verify a statutory deadline that has not been configured from an approved rule. It should still provide any safe, supported immediate steps instead of ending with only a disclaimer.

Your review controls the plan

AI-extracted facts remain unconfirmed until you compare them with the original and save your corrections. Confirmed-by-you is different from court-verified. When a date, filing requirement or legal consequence could materially affect your rights, confirm it with the official court or a licensed attorney.

Sources and uncertainty

Legal and procedural claims should identify the source and last-reviewed date. Detroit-specific information must not be treated as statewide. If facts are missing, EvictionOS should ask targeted questions while still giving supported actions that are safe to take.

Your affirmative consent

Case creation, AI chat and AI document processing each display an affirmative acknowledgment or authorization. EvictionOS records the applicable version and time. Document authorization permits the document to be sent to the AI provider for the extraction you requested.

Privacy and provider handling

Questions and authorized document content may be processed through the OpenAI API. See the Privacy Policy for provider handling, retention and your choices. Do not submit Social Security numbers, financial-account information, medical records or unrelated sensitive information.

Urgent situations and corrections

If anyone is in immediate physical danger, call 911 or local emergency services. For hearings, lockouts, judgments or orders that may require immediate action, use Urgent Help and contact the court or legal aid. Report a concerning or incorrect response to mr@everybodycaresmi.org.
